Request for Proposals for Professional Development and Education

AFP Charlotte welcomes fundraisers, nonprofit leaders, consultants, funders, vendors, authors, thought leaders, and others with knowledge that supports best practices in philanthropy, fundraising, and leadership to submit presentation proposals for chapter education programs.


What is AFP Charlotte?

The Association of Fundraising Professionals Charlotte Chapter (AFP Charlotte) provides its members opportunities to advance philanthropy by becoming effective and ethical fundraisers. The Charlotte Chapter of AFP is a proud affiliate of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the standard-bearer for professionalism in fundraising for more than 60 years.

AFP Charlotte offers quality education and professional development opportunities including affinity groups, monthly educational programs, access to webinars presented by national and international leaders in our field, and regional and international conference opportunities. AFP Charlotte has more than 250 members employed by a multitude of nonprofit charitable organizations including arts and culture, education, health and human services, and religion, as well as community grant makers, consultants, philanthropists, and volunteers. Members range from entry-level to very senior fundraisers and nonprofit leaders.

AFP Charlotte Professional Development

AFP Charlotte's monthly meetings with education programs provide the opportunity for presenters, sponsors, and members to network with fellow fundraisers and hear the latest from leaders in the fundraising community. Topics range from core development competencies to the latest fundraising trends and techniques to opportunities to advance one's own career through leadership and professional growth.
  • Monthly meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month from 11:30 am-1pm. These meetings include networking from 11:30 am-noon and an education presentation from 12pm-1pm. Lunch is provided. AFP Charlotte also hosts occasional in-person and virtual meetings and an annual one-day conference that vary from this cadence.
  • Registration for each event is required via www.afpcharlotte.org. Registration fees vary ($10-$45).
  • Meetings are held at various venues around Charlotte, such as at nonprofit organizations, corporate offices, and rental spaces at colleges, houses of worship, restaurants, and breweries. (Want to host a meeting at your location? Contact us!)
  • Monthly meeting attendance ranges between 30-60 attendees.
  • Our primary membership and target audience for programming are professional fundraisers, both members of AFP and guests.
  • We encourage audience participation and Q&A to keep the sessions as interesting and lively as possible.
  • All resources and/or programs must be educational, and cannot include pitches, demos, selling, or asks.
  • Presenters will be credited, along with their organizational affiliations, with a link or email address to learn more.
  • Presenters may provide materials (handouts, brochures, swag) for attendees if they desire.

Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis. AFP Charlotte makes no guarantee that a proposal will be selected for inclusion in the slate of offerings. The AFP Charlotte Program Committee reserves the right to make final selections to ensure balanced programming and the right to solicit additional proposals to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion in program offerings.
