National Philanthropy Day celebrates the individuals and organization who are changing the world with a giving heart. At the heart of AFP Charlotte's National Philanthropy Day event is the desire to uplift the different forms 'giving back' can take and recognize the critical role philanthropy plays in creating a more equitable Charlotte-Mecklenburg community for all. AFP Charlotte appreciates the community's help in nominating worthy honorees. Your voice is essential in telling our community's story and creating an event that truly reflects the entire Charlotte-Mecklenburg community.

AFP Charlotte continues to adapt and adhere to guidelines regarding the pandemic. However, as restrictions change and with vaccines becoming more available, we are hopeful to shift to face-to-face sessions later this year. In the meantime, we are delighted to announce that Ian Adair will host a virtual workshop for AFP Charlotte on Wednesday, May 12, beginning at 11:30.  May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Ian will present a session on Mental Health in the Workplace.  Mental health awareness has become a major concern that organization's need to address in order to support their employees and attract top talent. This session will examine:

  • How mental illness is impacting the work place and the nonprofit sector
  • How mental health effects employee retention, organizational culture, and a nonprofit's financial bottom line
  • What strategies nonprofit leaders can employ to support mental health and wellness in their organizations
